Cursory: A persistent and diligent young man has beat all obstacles after he won an Oxford scholarship despite facing rejection from 7 scholarships on the past, he reveals how he did it and showed gratitude to those who helped him.


A brilliant Nigerian man named Kelechi Chima has finally won a scholarship award to study at the University of Oxford, UK after being rejected by 7 scholarship bodies in his previous strives.
Kelechi Chima graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Nigeria, West Africa. After his Medicine degree, the young Doctor applied for 7 scholarships but was denied.
He however did not give up on his dreams and his efforts finally gave him success as he clinched the 2023 Rhodes Scholarship Award for West African Students.
The Rhodes Scholarship awards full sponsorship and a £17,310 yearly stipend to students to earn a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Kelechi Chima who shared his happiness on LinkedIn listed the scholarship he had previously applied for before finally winning the 2023 Rhodes Scholarships for West African Students.

Kelechi Chima said he is happy to be selected as one the Rhodes Scholars after several unsuccessful attempts to win a scholarship.
“I am beyond elated to be selected as one of the 2023 Rhodes Scholar-Elects for West Africa. It has been a harrowing year so far and I am sincerely grateful for this opportunity to actualise my potential for the benefit of humanity,” he said.
He thanked the Rhodes Trust and the Rhodes West Africa Selectors for believing in his commitment to driving sustainable healthcare care solutions.
“I am honoured to enter my name into the history books beside the remarkable individuals who have come before me,” he said.
He also thanked his mother, brother, friends and family for their unwavering support throughout his journey.
“I would like to thank my mother, brother, friends and family that have unwaveringly supported me in this journey. I am also deeply grateful to my academic and character referees, my mentors and seniors, whose invaluable advice and support helped me achieve this monumental feat,” he added.
Kelechi Chima quoted Charles Bukowski to inspire upcoming scholars never to give up on their dreams. “If you’re going to try, go all the way…”
