Corpers going for War?? NYSC Management Releases Official Statement

The NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations has released an official press release on the news flying around that ‘her members will be recruited for war in Niger’.

The NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, released a statement in Abuja on Saturday addressing a circulating video on social media that claimed the NYSC would deploy youth corps members to Niger for a war to restore democracy.

He clarified that the story was entirely false and fabricated by the creator of a skit and content. Megwa emphasized that there is no truth to the claim and urged the public to disregard the misleading information as it borders on criminality.

He stated that “management wishes to state that there is no iota of truth in the story fabricated by the purveyor, a skit and content creator.”

“The public, especially youth corps members, prospective members, and their parents should disregard the story, which borders on criminality in its entirety.

“Content and skit makers are strongly advised to desist from spreading false information capable of subverting the peace of the nation.”

Mr. Megwa further stated that law enforcement agencies will spare no effort to ensure that those responsible for spreading the false story are held accountable.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a coup occurred in Niger on 26 July, during which Nigerien soldiers overthrew the democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum.

As a result, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is actively working towards restoring democratic governance in the country.
