A 16-year-old Nigerian, Manasseh Aluga, has received international acclaim for his innovative approach to combating plastic waste by converting it into environmentally-friendly building bricks.
Manasseh, from Jos, Plateau, secured second place in the International Young Eco-Hero Award, organized by the U.S.-based environmental group, Action For Nature, for his pioneering Kundu Waste Management Project.
In a statement released on Monday, AFN spokesperson Kelly Carnes highlighted Aluga’s recognition as a leading environmental innovator in Nigeria.
“We are deeply impressed by Manasseh’s commitment to creating a cleaner environment, despite financial limitations and personal challenges,” Carnes said. “His project was driven by the severe impact of plastic pollution in his community.”
