Oluwateniola Faderera Adeniyi, a 20-year-old Nigerian, graduated with a first-class degree in English and a CGPA of 4.62 from Redeemer’s University, earning her the title of Best Graduating Student in the English Department with an emphasis in Literature.

Faderera also became the second-best graduating student in the entire department and was awarded “Best Library User” among the 2024 class. She shared her journey on Instagram, expressing gratitude for her achievements.

In an interview, Faderera attributed her success to her parents, who instilled in her a strong work ethic, and her personal determination, which helped her navigate various challenges, including overcoming an initial setback in gaining admission and the loss of her younger sister during her third year.

Her commitment to excellence also led to a scholarship in her second year, a vice-presidential role in the English Department’s Student Association, and aspirations to advance African literature globally. Looking ahead, she hopes to pursue teaching, writing, and sports journalism.

Reflecting on her journey, Faderera advised students to pursue their passions with joy and integrity, noting that “academic excellence opens doors, but character matters too.”
