Caleb Onoja Akogwu, a young Nigerian individual, has been awarded a complete scholarship to pursue his master’s degree at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in China. Caleb completed his bachelor’s degree in Botany Engineering at the University of Agriculture, Markurdi, Nigeria, graduating with second-class upper honors.

Sharing his accomplishment on his LinkedIn profile, Caleb recounted the challenges he encountered and how he triumphed over them. He secured the fully funded scholarship from the Alliance of International Science Organisation.

Reflecting on his journey, Caleb revealed that during his youth service year, he harbored three aspirations, with winning a scholarship being one of them. Remarkably, all his aspirations were fulfilled, including the fully funded scholarship, just days after completing his service year.

During his time at university, Caleb expressed apprehension about employment prospects post-graduation. However, his Press and Publicity Deputy Coordinator suggested that he pursue further studies through scholarships, introducing him to the concept of studying abroad through such opportunities.

Another pivotal moment occurred when he overheard elders at his church discussing scholarships. Encouraged by an elder, he was inspired to explore the possibility of securing sponsorship from a professor, a notion that was unfamiliar to him at the time. Nevertheless, he resolved to actively pursue scholarship opportunities.

After graduating in 2019, Caleb encountered challenges such as the ASUU strike and the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he utilized his time effectively by participating in Zoom meetings, expanding his knowledge, engaging in volunteer work, and obtaining certifications.

Before commencing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), he took proactive measures to prepare. This included applying for his international passport, arranging for his transcript, ensuring his undergraduate work was published, and informing his referees of his plans.

When the application process commenced, he was fully prepared to pursue various opportunities. Caleb emphasized that his journey was arduous, requiring immense effort and dedication.

He exhausted all his resources and remained receptive to any opportunity that arose. Despite encountering financial challenges and facing numerous rejections, he persevered, believing that everything eventually fell into place according to a higher plan.

Caleb attributed his success to the support, guidance, and mentorship he received from his family and friends. He said he has taken the initiative and is always ready to assist those who truly believe in the same path or goal.
