The Federal Government has re-enrolled four million of Nigeria’s 20 million out-of-school children in classrooms as part of a plan to annually reintegrate three to four million children into the education system over the next three years.

The Federal Government has announced that four million out of the 20 million out-of-school children in Nigeria have been re-enrolled in classrooms, with 3,483,721 benefiting from direct interventions aimed at enhancing learning.
This achievement, credited to the collaborative efforts of five agencies within the Federal Ministry of Education, is part of an ambitious plan to enroll three to four million out-of-school children annually over the next three years.
Education Minister Prof. Tahir Mamman shared these updates in Abuja while presenting his ministerial scorecard for the past year, highlighting that the number of students benefiting from free and compulsory basic education has grown from 30,324,372 to 53,324,372—a 75.9% increase.
The Minister also noted that more than 85,662 teaching and non-teaching staff have been trained, over 759,000 scholarships awarded, and over 40,000 facilities provided for basic and senior secondary education by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) within the past year.
In the tertiary education sector, the government has provided over 6,500 facilities, including laboratories, faculty buildings, and auditoriums.
