Lady Studying Medicine Shares How She Picked Up Herself From Bottom to Top

Cursory: Pontsho Dolo, a final year medical student at the University of Pretoria inspires the students in her tik tok videos montage of pictures that detail how she picked herself up from the bottom to reach her current feat.

Due to some reasons, most of us left our dream hanging. Yes, that reason might be justifiable, but the story of this amiable medical student who struggled her way through school just to achieve her dream of becoming a medical doctor will teach you that nothing is worth giving up on your dream. It can be delayed, but never be denied.

Her story serves as an inspiration to Africans and beyond never to give up on their dream, but keenly follow it.

While in High School, the young girl Pontsho Dolo always wanted to study Medicine and Surgery. However, she couldn’t do well in her Matric (high school final exam).

But she didn’t let this stop her. She decided to do an Extended Degree Program, an intensive course designed for high school students who want to apply to a South African tertiary institution but don’t meet the entry requirements needed to get in.

She tried her best and made sure that this time she did excellently well. Her hard work paid off! She eventually got accepted into the University of Pretoria (Tuks) to study her dream course – medicine – and has been soaring ever since.

Sharing her story with Briefly News, she said;

My love for medicine keeps me going, and I am always ready and excited to learn about new things no matter how difficult it is. My love for medicine is too deep to a point where no one or any situation can drive me to leave medicine,

I have a very supportive family that keeps me going constantly. They always remind me why I want medicine when facing a difficult situation. I’m not from a very advantaged family, but the support I get from my family is excellent, and I don’t want to disappoint them because they try by all means to provide everything I need.

It didn’t just end here. She made a remark to encourage matric learners.

In her words; “Upgrading your marks the following year is not a shame. It is way better than settling for any degree. Lift your head up and walk straight. You got this!
