Chevening Scholarship Winner Completes Public Health Master’s in UK

Cursory: Ijeoma Omenugha, a Chevening Scholarship recipient from Nigeria, has completed her master’s degree in Global Public Health and Policy. She expressed gratitude to her support network and Chevening Awards for the opportunity. Her dissertation focused on evaluating policy interventions for healthcare workforce development in Low and Middle-income countries, advocating for addressing migration intentions’ push and pull factors.

Ijeoma Omenugha, a recipient of the Chevening Scholarship, has successfully completed her master’s degree at Queen Mary University of London in the United Kingdom. Originally from Nigeria, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Ebonyi State University before pursuing further studies in the UK.

Taking to LinkedIn to celebrate her achievement, Ijeoma announced that she graduated with a Master of Science (MSc) in Global Public Health and Policy from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London.

”I recently graduated with an MSc in Global Public Health and Policy from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry Queen Mary University of London,” iIjeoma said.

She expressed her gratitude to her family, friends, and educators for their unwavering support in advancing her professional aspirations.

Additionally, she thanked the Chevening Awards for providing her with the opportunity to pursue her master’s degree, which was fully funded by the prestigious scholarship.

Ijeoma’s dissertation focused on evaluating the effectiveness of policy interventions aimed at developing and sustaining healthcare workforce in Low and Middle-income countries.

She highlighted the challenges faced by various international anti-recruitment policies in implementation, particularly in low-income countries where implementing national-level interventions proved to be difficult.

Furthermore, she emphasized the need to shift focus from tightening immigration laws to identifying and addressing the push and pull factors influencing healthcare workers’ migration intentions.
