Monday John, a resilient Nigerian student, emerged as the Second Overall Best Graduating Student of Obafemi Awolowo University with a First Class degree in Mechanical Engineering and an outstanding 4.90/5.00 CGPA after overcoming early admission setbacks, earning multiple awards, scholarships, and professional recognition.

Monday John has achieved an outstanding academic milestone after emerging as the Second Overall Best Graduating Student of the 2025 graduating class at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. He graduated with a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, recording an exceptional 4.90 out of 5.00 CGPA.
His journey was marked by resilience and determination. After missing admission in 2017 despite a strong UTME performance, Monday spent the following year studying independently, strengthening his academic foundation. He later gained admission into OAU in 2018, a university he once thought was beyond his reach.
Throughout his undergraduate years, Monday consistently excelled, earning several awards and scholarships, including recognition as the Best Graduating Student in Mechanical Engineering, Best Engineering Graduate in the Faculty of Technology, and induction into the Nigerian Society of Engineers. His final-year project, focused on a smart IoT-enabled plastic shredder, highlighted his ability to combine engineering innovation with sustainability.
Monday credits his success to discipline, mentorship, and the unwavering support of his family and lecturers.
