Cursory: JAMB announces a fee for candidates seeking to change their names after UTME registration, however the change comes with a strong warning. See full details…

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that candidates who wish to change their names after registering for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will be required to pay a fee of N2,500. This announcement came in response to an enquiry made by a candidate named Kamdili on Sunday, April 7.
Kamdili had asked via tweet: “Please, how much does it cost for a change of name? The option is no longer on your portal, and I don’t want to have to go to your office twice.”
JAMB responded promptly, stating: “#2,500.00 only. However, you’re advised to weigh your options before applying, as JAMB does not approve name correction after registration.”
The examination board emphasized the importance of candidates considering their decision carefully, as only one name change is permitted, and it cannot be done more than once. Candidates are urged to take this into account before approaching JAMB for a name change.
