Final-Year Federal University Lokoja Student Found Dead by Roadside in Kogi

A final-year Federal University Lokoja student, Sarah Ojodomo Idoko, was found dead by the roadside in Lokoja, prompting a police investigation and widespread calls for justice.

A tragic incident has shaken the Federal University Lokoja community following the death of a final-year student, Sarah Ojodomo Idoko, whose body was discovered along the Felele-Lokoja Road in Lokoja, Kogi State.

According to reports, her body was found on the night of May 30, 2026, in the Crusher area after she was allegedly abandoned there by unidentified individuals. Witness accounts indicated that a vehicle briefly stopped near the location around 8 p.m. before speeding away. Shortly afterward, passersby discovered the lifeless body.

Initial reports mistakenly identified the deceased as a student of Kogi State Polytechnic after an identity card was recovered at the scene. However, the Kogi State Police later clarified that she was a student of Federal University Lokoja.

The Association of Nigerian Female Students (ANFS), Kogi Chapter, condemned the killing, describing it as cruel and heartbreaking. The group urged security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

Confirming the incident, Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, stated that investigations are ongoing. He noted that the police would not release further details for now in order to protect the integrity of the investigation, assuring the public that findings would be made known at the appropriate time.

The incident has sparked concern among residents and students, with many calling for improved security measures and swift justice for the deceased.
