Ebonyi student Obasi Victor Nnanna received a university scholarship from David Umahi after scoring 356 in the 2026 UTME, while Ogun State’s Owoeye Daniella Jesudunsin recorded the highest score nationwide with 372.

Obasi Victor Nnanna, a student from Ebonyi State, has been awarded a university scholarship by Minister of Works, David Umahi, after scoring 356 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Nnanna emerged as the highest-scoring candidate in Ebonyi State and one of the top performers nationwide. He achieved 98 in Mathematics, 98 in Physics, 91 in Chemistry, and 69 in English Language.
The student graduated from King David Gifted Academy in Abakaliki. The scholarship was approved after the school informed Umahi of his exceptional academic performance. Nnanna belongs to the first graduating class of the academy, which was established by Umahi in 2016 during his tenure as governor of Ebonyi State.
According to the school’s principal, Rev. Sis. Dr. Onyeukwu Veronica, Nnanna consistently ranked first in his class from Junior Secondary School One to Senior Secondary School Three and maintained an average score of at least 95 percent every term.
She described him as a highly disciplined and hardworking student whose success reflects years of dedication to academic excellence.
Apart from his academic achievements, Nnanna also demonstrated strong leadership qualities. He served as the school’s Senior Prefect and currently holds the position of Speaker of the Ebonyi State Children’s Parliament.
School authorities said his success has become a source of inspiration for many students, showing that commitment, discipline, and hard work can lead to remarkable achievements.
