Joy Amadi, an outstanding Nigerian woman, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing seven Ph.D. scholarships from prestigious universities across the United States and Canada, despite not holding a Master’s degree.
Joy earned her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a remarkable first-class honor, achieving a cumulative grade point average of 4.87 out of 5.00 at the Federal University of Lokoja, Nigeria. Her exceptional academic performance led to her recognition as the best-graduating student in her set.
Joy shared her extraordinary accomplishment of being awarded seven Ph.D. scholarships across the United States and Canada, despite only applying for one scholarship. She decided to accept one of these scholarships to pursue her doctoral studies at the University of Delaware, United States.
In a heartfelt message to her LinkedIn network, Joy expressed her gratitude to God, her parents, and her siblings for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout her academic journey.
In her words:
”Dear LinkedIn Family, I am happy to announce to you that I recently arrived America and have started my PhD program at the University of Delaware.”
She acknowledged her immediate family’s consistent prayers and encouragement, especially during moments when she felt discouraged.
Joy also extended her appreciation to several individuals and organizations, including Chinenye Uwadileke, Adeola Adejumobi, the i-Scholar Initiative (iSI), Gbadebo Adejumo, and the Association of Nigerian Scholars in America, whose support was instrumental in making her dream of studying abroad a reality.
Furthermore, Joy thanked her undergraduate lecturers for their guidance and support during the scholarship application process, emphasizing that their efforts were not in vain. She dedicated her remarkable achievement to her late father, who always believed in her potential and supported her aspirations. Despite his absence, Joy is confident that her father would be proud of her accomplishments and continued pursuit of her dreams.
