Deeper Life Church Allegedly Bans Students from Using Perfumes and Deodorants, Allegedly Claims They Are ‘For Dead People

Deeper Life Church’s controversial ban on students using perfumes and deodorants, allegedly claiming they are “for dead people,” has sparked widespread criticism and disbelief online.

Schools owned and affiliated with the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DLCM) have allegedly banned students from using deodorants, claiming they cause sexual immorality and are intended for dead people, according to netizens.

These allegations surfaced after an online user questioned the rationale behind such a policy: “Why do secondary schools owned by or affiliated with Deeper Life ban their students from using deodorant because it causes sexual immorality? What’s the thought process?”

Former students of Deeper Life High School (DLHS) have confirmed the claims.

One former student said, “I attended Deeper Life High School, Lagos campus, and the principal said it was because deodorant and perfumes were for dead people. I had to smuggle mine in.”

Another shared, “I just confirmed from my younger sister who attends DLHS, and she said it’s true that they don’t allow deodorants even up till now. It’s so illogical.”

Netizens have widely criticized the policy, questioning its practicality and logic. One commenter remarked, “Telling kids going through puberty not to smell good should definitely be a sin.”

Another commenter expressed disbelief, saying, “Just don’t try to understand anything from that church.

Everything about them is always abnormal and weird. Are they not the ones that weren’t allowed to watch TV in their houses and called it ‘Apoti Esu’??”

A former church member explained the church’s stance: “According to most of their sermons on this topic from certain indoctrinated pastors, it was said that perfume is for dead people.”
