Despite growing up in a community with limited educational opportunities, Oluwademilade Otuyiga earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) with honors from Obafemi Awolowo University, won two prestigious academic awards, gained leadership experience, interned at top law firms, and now looks forward to attending the Nigerian Law School to further his legal career.

A brilliant Nigerian scholar, Oluwademilade Otuyiga, has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by earning a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) with honors from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). His exceptional academic performance earned him two prestigious awards as the best graduating student.

In a heartfelt reflection on his journey, Oluwademilade shared that he grew up in a community where becoming a lawyer seemed like an impossible dream. Limited educational opportunities and a lack of intellectual appreciation for learning made his ambitions even more challenging. However, driven by an unrelenting thirst for knowledge, he remained committed to academic excellence throughout his undergraduate years.

Oluwademilade excelled in multiple law courses, particularly Equity & Trust, Company Law, and Jurisprudence & Legal Theory. His dedication earned him two prestigious faculty prizes:

Dr. T. Akinola Aguda Prize – Awarded to the best graduating student in Jurisprudence & Legal Theory, where he scored 80%.

Chief Augustus Epebinu Akenroye Prize – Also awarded for excellence in Jurisprudence & Legal Theory, with a score of 80%.

Beyond academics, Oluwademilade actively sought opportunities to lead, inspire, and drive change. He served as:

Class Governor of the IfeLaw Mavens Class of 2023, representing over 350 students.

Pioneer President of the Labour Law Students Club, demonstrating his commitment to leadership and advocacy.

His passion for law extended beyond the classroom, leading him to explore finance-related courses and gain practical legal experience at top law firms, including DealHQ Partners and The Law Crest LLP.

Through these experiences, Oluwademilade recognized the interplay between law and finance, understanding how law ensures balance while finance seeks profit— a critical synergy for economic stability. This passion led him to an internship at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria, where he explored the legal frameworks that shape financial markets, protect stakeholders, and promote sustainable growth.

Oluwademilade expressed deep gratitude to his family, friends, lecturers, and the families of Chief Akenroye and Dr. Aguda, whose enduring legacies continue to inspire young legal scholars. While celebrating his achievements, he emphasized that his journey is far from over. He now looks forward to attending the Nigerian Law School to obtain the certification required to practice law in Nigeria.

His inspiring story serves as a testament to the power of resilience, hard work, and the pursuit of excellence.
