Nigerian-American political commentator and reality TV personality Wendy Osefo has reportedly been removed from her position as a professor at Wesleyan University. This development comes shortly after she and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were charged with multiple counts of fraud.
Fraud Allegations
On October 9, 2025, Wendy and Eddie Osefo were booked on 34 charges, including felonies and misdemeanors related to conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and providing false statements to law enforcement.
According to authorities, the couple allegedly staged a fake burglary at their home in April 2024, claiming that high-end jewelry and designer items worth approximately $500,000 were stolen.
Academic Background
Wendy Osefo joined Wesleyan University in Fall 2024, where she taught a course titled “The Sociology of Reality TV: Race, Colorism, and Xenophobia.” Before that, she was a tenured professor at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, a position she resigned from in 2024.
She holds academic degrees from Temple University, Johns Hopkins University, and earned a Ph.D. in Public Affairs and Community Development from Rutgers University.
