Wendy Osefo Reportedly Dismissed from Wesleyan University Following Fraud Charges

Wendy Osefo, a Nigerian-American professor and reality TV personality, has reportedly been removed from her role at Wesleyan University following 34 fraud-related charges against her and her husband, including allegations of staging a fake burglary.

Nigerian-American political commentator and reality TV personality Wendy Osefo has reportedly been removed from her position as a professor at Wesleyan University. This development comes shortly after she and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were charged with multiple counts of fraud.

Fraud Allegations

On October 9, 2025, Wendy and Eddie Osefo were booked on 34 charges, including felonies and misdemeanors related to conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and providing false statements to law enforcement.

According to authorities, the couple allegedly staged a fake burglary at their home in April 2024, claiming that high-end jewelry and designer items worth approximately $500,000 were stolen.

Academic Background

Wendy Osefo joined Wesleyan University in Fall 2024, where she taught a course titled “The Sociology of Reality TV: Race, Colorism, and Xenophobia.” Before that, she was a tenured professor at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, a position she resigned from in 2024.

She holds academic degrees from Temple University, Johns Hopkins University, and earned a Ph.D. in Public Affairs and Community Development from Rutgers University.

Media Presence

Beyond academia, Wendy Osefo is widely recognized as a cast member on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of Potomac”, where she shares insights into her personal life and societal issues. She is also known for her work as a political commentator and social justice advocate.

Silence from the Couple

As of now, neither Wendy nor Eddie Osefo has publicly addressed the allegations or the reports of her removal from the university.
