Dr. Hallowed Oluwadara Olaoluwa, a lecturer at the University of Lagos, rose to prominence as an academic prodigy by earning double first-class degrees at 18 and completing a PhD in Mathematics at 24, alongside multiple awards and international recognition.
Dr. Hallowed Oluwadara Olaoluwa stands out as one of Africa’s most exceptional academic talents, gaining recognition as one of the youngest PhD holders after completing his doctorate in Mathematics at the University of Lagos at just 24 years old.
Born on September 27, 1989, in Bangui to Nigerian parents from Ekiti State, Olaoluwa displayed extraordinary brilliance from a young age. He progressed rapidly through school, receiving multiple double promotions and completing the French Baccalauréat in Sciences at just 14.
He later enrolled at the University of Bangui, where he achieved a rare academic feat by studying two courses simultaneously. At only 18, he graduated with First Class Honours in both Mathematics and Physics, earning awards as the best student in both disciplines.
Continuing his academic excellence, Olaoluwa obtained two Master’s degrees in Mathematics and Physics at age 19—again graduating with first class honours and becoming the only student at the university to accomplish such a record.
Driven by a passion for advanced research, he proceeded to the University of Lagos, where he earned a PhD in Mathematics in 2014 with a perfect CGPA. His specialization in Functional Analysis, particularly Fixed Point Theory, earned him awards as the overall best PhD graduate and the top student in the sciences and engineering category.
His achievements gained international recognition, including an academic opportunity at Université Pierre et Marie Curie in France and a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University between 2015 and 2016, where he conducted research in mathematical physics.
Over the years, he has received numerous honours such as the Ekiti State Merit Award and recognition as one of Africa’s youngest PhD holders. Fluent in French, English, and Yoruba, Olaoluwa currently serves as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lagos, where he continues to teach, mentor, and inspire young scholars.
His journey reflects discipline, intelligence, and dedication, making him a role model for students across Nigeria and beyond.
