NOUN law graduates protested at the university’s headquarters, demanding immediate mobilisation to the Nigerian Law School after alleging prolonged delays despite completing their degree requirements.
A group of law graduates from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) staged a peaceful protest at the university’s headquarters over what they described as the institution’s failure to mobilise them for admission into the Nigerian Law School.
The aggrieved graduates said they had successfully completed all the academic requirements for their Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree and expected to be forwarded to the Nigerian Law School. However, they alleged that the prolonged delay has left their careers on hold and created uncertainty about their future.
Carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, the protesters called on the university’s management to immediately resolve the issue. They said the delay had caused emotional distress, financial hardship, and frustration, as many had already made plans to proceed with the next stage of their legal education.
According to the graduates, they have repeatedly sought clarification from the university but have yet to receive a satisfactory explanation or a definite timeline for their mobilisation. They urged the management to be transparent and communicate clearly with the affected students.
The protesters appealed to the relevant authorities, including the university administration and other stakeholders in legal education, to intervene and ensure that qualified graduates are not denied the opportunity to attend the Nigerian Law School due to administrative delays.
They maintained that they only want the university to fulfil its responsibility by processing and forwarding their names so they can continue their journey toward becoming qualified legal practitioners.
