Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom Sacks State universal basic education board chairman over alleged fraud.
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Tuesday, ordered the State Universal Basic Education Board Chairman, Rev. Emmanuel Aper, to immediately resign his appointment for his inability to manage the board.
A public announcement on Radio Benue said Ortom sacked the SUBEB chairman for alleged financial misappropriation.
A Government House source hinted that Aper was sacked because the wage bill of the teachers in the state did not change despite cases of deaths and retirement of teachers.

Also, a top government official, who didn’t want his name mentioned in print, said Aper was sacked “for displaying enormous incompetence and lack of capacity to man the office.”
The official added, “I can categorically confirm to you that His Excellency, Governor Ortom, this afternoon took the decision to sack the SUBEB Chairman, Rev. Emmanuel Aper, having uncovered fraud coupled with his incompetence.”
