AAUA shut down indefinitely as students protest ‘No school fees, No examination’ policy

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, AAUA, Ondo State has been shut down indefinitely after a protest erupted at the school on the issue of “No school fees, No examination” policy introduced by the university authorities.

According to a statement issued by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Gbenga Ige to the institution’s Registrar Olugbenga Arujulu, the students were ordered to evacuate their hostel immediately.

On Monday, students protested against the institution’s administrators over the “No school fees, No examination’ policy” introduced by the school management.

The students that gathered on the institution’s campus revealed that many of them have not paid their tuition fees or registered online.

It is said that the school insisted on not allowing students to take the exam without paying fees.

The first-semester exam that was originally scheduled to be held on Monday was put on hold because no students were able to participate.

Angered by the developments, some students also mobilized to the main entrance of the university, where they roadblock the Owo-Ikare highway, causing traffic jams for several hours.

As students chanted various solidarity songs during the demonstration, the social and economic activities around the institution were paralyzed.

Kolade Ogunsanmi, President of the Student Union Government of the institution, confirmed this development.
