The University of Abuja Chapter of the University Faculty Union (ASUU) has confirmed the kidnapping of two professors in the institution’s faculty dormitory.


“Daily post” reported that armed men suspected of kidnapping occasionally broke into the school building on Tuesday morning and then took about 6 people away.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its spokesperson DSP Josephine Adeh.
She said that FCT police chief CP Babaji Sunday has sent additional tactical and regular police resources to the university’s main campus and satellite campus to prevent further attacks.
The chairman of ASUU, Dr. UNIABUJA Kassim Umaru, also confirmed the kidnapping. He told Channels TV that the agency is working to rescue the victims.
According to him, the kidnapped were Professor Obansa and his son; Professor Oboscolo, his son and daughter, as well as Sambo Mohammed and Dr. Tobins.
He called on Nigerians to remember the kidnapped in prayer to ensure that the victims are safe and sound.
“Please, we need you to pray for their safe return,” ASUU chairman said in a message.
