70-Year-Old Woman Emerges as Top Graduate at Crystal Galaxy College of Aviation

A 70-year-old woman identified as Gladys Desbordes-Hill has emerged the best student at the Crystal Galaxy College of Aviation and Professional Studies graduation ceremony.

In a remarkable testament to the power of lifelong learning and dedication, 70-year-old Gladys Desbordes-Hill has emerged as the top online student in the Advance Diploma in International Relations and Diplomacy at this year’s Crystal Galaxy College of Aviation and Professional Studies graduation ceremony, held on May 4, 2024, in Accra.

Desbordes-Hill was awarded a certificate of honor and a meritorious award in recognition of her exceptional academic performance and active engagement in school activities, defying age stereotypes with her remarkable achievement.

Reflecting on her journey, Desbordes-Hill expressed her steadfast commitment to continuous learning and her enthusiasm to contribute to global diplomacy. “I’ve always strived to expand my knowledge in this rapidly changing world. The path hasn’t always been easy, but I’m grateful to have reached this milestone regardless of my age,” she remarked.

Kofi Appiah Bempong, a lecturer at the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy, praised Desbordes-Hill’s insatiable thirst for knowledge and her ability to navigate the complexities of international affairs despite the challenges posed by her age and other life commitments.

Aside from her academic pursuits, Gladys Desbordes-Hill is a distinguished grooming and etiquette consultant, ranking among the top three fashion designers in Ghana. She is the founder of the esteemed Special Grooming and Etiquette School, located in Achimota, where she empowers individuals to present their best selves to the world.

Moreover, Desbordes-Hill is the visionary behind the Talented and ‘A’ Students Foundation, a platform dedicated to supporting exceptionally brilliant and talented individuals, providing them with resources and opportunities to excel in their respective fields. Through her various endeavors, she continues to inspire others to pursue excellence and break barriers, regardless of age or background.
