BREAKING: Tinubu Approves Automatic Federal Jobs, ₦250K Cash Awards for 200 NYSC Members

President Bola Tinubu has approved automatic federal employment, ₦250,000 cash rewards, and postgraduate scholarships for 200 outstanding and 10 physically challenged ex-NYSC members, recognizing their exceptional service and reinforcing his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and national development.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the immediate employment of 200 outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service, rewarding their exceptional performance during their service years from 2020 to 2023.

Announced during the NYSC Honours Award Ceremony in Abuja on Tuesday, the President—represented by Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha—also granted each awardee a ₦250,000 cash prize.

Additionally, 10 physically challenged ex-corps members, who were injured or disabled during their service, will also be offered automatic federal jobs. President Tinubu emphasized that their sacrifices will not be overlooked.

“All award recipients, including those with disabilities, will receive postgraduate scholarships to study at any Nigerian university,” the President affirmed.

He commended the awardees for their integrity, patriotism, and dedication, calling them shining examples of the country’s future.

The Federal Civil Service Commission and the Office of the Head of Civil Service have been tasked with immediately beginning the recruitment process.

Youth Development in Focus

President Tinubu highlighted his administration’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youth through initiatives in skills development, technology, education, and employment.

“Youth are central to our national development strategy,” he said, urging young people to stay hopeful and united.

Government Commends Youth Efforts

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, praised President Tinubu’s consistent backing of Nigerian youth, referencing the recent increase in NYSC monthly allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.

“This is more than politics—it’s a recognition of youth contributions to national growth,” Olawande said, noting the increasing number of young Nigerians in leadership roles.

NYSC’s National Impact

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, NYSC Director-General, described corps members as “pillars of national development,” citing their contributions to healthcare, ICT training, education, and voter awareness—especially in underserved areas.

He revealed that in 2025 alone, over 6,300 medical corps members, including 2,300 doctors, provided free healthcare to over 4 million Nigerians in rural communities.

The NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, he added, has trained over 250,000 corps members annually in tech and market-relevant skills.

General Nafiu also paid tribute to four corps members who lost their lives in service, hailing them as “heroes of national unity.”

In his closing remarks, he charged the awardees to become lifelong ambassadors of unity:

“You may no longer wear khaki, but you now wear something greater—the confidence of a nation. Serve with pride and carry the hope of a better Nigeria.”
