A recent Nigerian graduate, Princess Anthonia Ikeriehi has earned a first-class honors degree in Law from the University of Benin and was also named the best-graduating student in her department. She has shared her journey.

In 2018, Princess Anthonia Ikeriehi boldly declared her mission as she entered the gates of the Faculty of Law at the University of Benin: “First Class or nothing!” But she wasn’t content to just excel academically; she wanted to immerse herself in every aspect of campus life.
Beyond the classroom, Princess was deeply involved in moot and mock trials, rising to become a principal partner in her student chamber.
She even ventured into politics, serving as a judge at the High Court of the Student Union Government. As if that wasn’t enough, she launched her own business, Flash Logistics, during this period.
Throughout her journey, Princess faced doubts and self-reflection. She wondered if she was spreading herself too thin, if she could truly achieve her ambitious academic goals. While some doubted her, others believed in her capabilities.
The outcome? Not only did she achieve a First Class degree, but she also graduated as the Best Graduating Student, making her the seventh student to do so in the history of the Faculty of Law, University of Benin.
“My journey was not a case of parking in the lane of convenience and expecting to arrive at the boulevard of success,” Princess reflects. “I put in the work—so much work—days of sleepless nights, tears, and God came through! No shortcuts, no excuses—just pure dedication and divine grace.”
“I DID THAT! I made it happen, and I am just getting started!.
“So, allow me to reintroduce her: Princess Anthonia Ikeriehi, Best Graduating Student of the 2022/2023 Law Class at the Faculty of Law, University of Benin,” she celebrated.
She credits her success in part to her mentor, Professor Michael Attah, saying, “I wouldn’t have come this far without you. Thank you for always believing in me.”
