Brilliant Nigerian Lady Wins Full Scholarship to Europe, Becomes the Only One from Her Country to Receive the Prestigious Award

Racheal Akindiose, a top-performing Nigerian biochemistry graduate, made history as the only Nigerian awarded the prestigious SI Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship, earning a fully funded Master’s degree in Biomedical Surface Science at Malmö University in Sweden.

Racheal Akindiose, a brilliant Nigerian scholar, has made history as the only Nigerian recipient of the prestigious SI Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship, securing a fully funded Master’s degree in Biomedical Surface Science at Malmö University in Sweden.

Her academic journey began in 2018 at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, where she studied Biochemistry. Through hard work and discipline, she graduated in 2023 with First-Class Honours, ranking in the top 1% of her faculty.

Determined to continue her education abroad, Racheal joined the Passport Intervention Program in 2024, where she received mentorship and academic resources that guided her successful application. Out of numerous applicants, she became one of just 51 women selected across Africa and Asia for the scholarship.

Racheal expressed gratitude to God, her family, friends, and mentor, emphasizing that the award reflects the power of resilience and determination. She looks forward to contributing to research in biomedical innovation—particularly in surface modifications for medical implants and diagnostics.

Passionate about driving change in her country, she aims to apply her knowledge to address pressing healthcare challenges in Nigeria. To fellow women in STEM, she offered encouragement: “Keep moving. The world needs what you carry inside you.”
