Brilliant Student Can’t Continue Education Because Of Church!

CURSORY: An intelligent Ghanaian student Evans, has trouble enrolling in school because his mother dislikes formal schooling due to a recent religious change.

The future of a bright young boy, Evans stands uncertain, as his mother stops him from furthering his education.

The mother’s behavior is a result of her belief in her church, ‘God’s Kingdom at Last’, a church that disapproves education.

According to a Facebook post, Evans has been accepted to Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) Legon, and his elementary school teachers have purchased everything he needs, but his mother is still sticking to her church belief,

Every attempt to enroll Evans in Presec, Legon has been met with resistance from the mother, who is unyielding despite the involvement of social welfare and the continuous effort of community advocacy.

Understanding how delicate the matter is, the community has contacted the church leader in an effort to find a solution.

According to a collage student and the PRESEC, Kofi Asare, who related the story, contacting the mother to persuade her to let the bright boy finish school usually results in the person’s number being blocked.!

He also said that the Department of Social Welfare was among the people who had been in touch with Evans’ mother, but in order for Evans to start school in January 2024, they needed to find a different means to get in touch with him, because they had no idea where the mother was keeping him.

Fearing for Evans’ future, the community launched a two-week long campaign of persuasion, looking for alternatives before considering going to court.
