Simon Akinteye from the Department of Physics emerged as the overall best graduating student in the 2019/20 academic session at the Ajayi Crowther University with 5.00 CGPA, while Ruth Dala from the Department of Earth Sciences emerged overall best in the 2020/21 session with 4.87 CGPA.


DAMILOLA ROLEOLA meet them during the combined 12th and 13th convocation ceremony held recently. These are the experience they shared:
How do you feel being the overall best student?
Dala: I feel excited. I’m very happy that my hard work paid off. I’m very glad.
Akinteye: I’m happy. It wasn’t as easy as it’s, and I’m glad that I’ve make it.
Well, a lot of people want to know the secret behind achieving this success. What was yours?
Dala: The main point is believing in God, because he is the best giver and success always comes from him, after that I’m always on my books.
Akinteye: The secrets? Firstly, Always pray hard and your book is your friend. Consistent reading is very important.
You talked about consistency in reading, what kind of culture did you put into your reading?
Dala: you should know your self and the capacity You have, my culture of reading is Night reading, I use to read over and over and then go through it again the next day.
Akinteye: I’m using joter while I’m reading to write down many questions on a particular course. Later in the weekend i study on them.
And do you really have time for social activities or was it just reading for you?
Dala: Yes, i have my time for social activities, I’m engaged in sports. I played basketball in school.
Akinteye: I wasn’t very social in school. I’d say I was too focused on my books to have time for social activities.
Did your lack of social life affect you in any way?
Akinteye: No, it did not but I’m much more social now.
What are your next plans and where do we expect to see in the next 5 to 10 years?
Dala: As for now, i haven’t been for service of my country, but I’ll be going for that soon, and i like to further my education and work in any sector that have me. I’m eyeing a lot of progress. That’s it.
Akinteye: my plans are to further my education, I’m going for masters degree.
