A Nigerian corps member moved many after honoring her late father’s final wish by wearing her National Youth Service Corps uniform and saluting his casket during his burial, despite him passing away before her service year began.

An emotional scene played out at a burial ceremony when a Nigerian corps member paid tribute to her late father by saluting his casket while dressed in her full National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) uniform.
The young woman explained that her father had always dreamed of seeing her serve her country and hoped she would one day salute him at his shop after beginning her NYSC service. Sadly, he passed away before she could commence the mandatory one-year program.
Determined to fulfill his wish despite his absence, she chose to attend his burial in her NYSC uniform and rendered a solemn salute in front of his coffin. A video from the ceremony shows her standing before the casket, saluting quietly as family members and mourners watched in deep emotion.
Sharing her reason, she wrote that although her father did not live to see her begin NYSC, she felt it was important to honor his final wish in the most meaningful way she could.
The touching moment sparked mixed reactions online, with many praising her for her courage and devotion, while others reflected on personal losses experienced during their own service year.
