The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of the Cross River State University of Education and Entrepreneurship, making it the 67th state university in Nigeria.
On March 11, 2025, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Utu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Owan Enoh, led a delegation to the National Universities Commission for the official recognition of the Cross River University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Akamkpa.
Welcoming the team, the Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, FCVSN, presented the recognition letter, officially designating the institution as the 67th state university and the 279th university in Nigeria.
He congratulated the Governor and the people of Cross River State on this remarkable milestone in expanding access to quality higher education.
With a focus on education and entrepreneurship, this new university is set to shape the future of young Nigerians and drive socio-economic development in the region.
