Exceptional 14-Year-Old Girl Surpasses JAMB Age Limit, Scores 324/400

At just 14, Amaka Abara overcame age-related barriers and public skepticism to score 324 in the 2025 UTME, exceeding JAMB’s strict underage requirement and proving her exceptional academic brilliance.

allscho At just 14 years old, Amaka Abara, a student at Federal Government Girls’ College, Abuja, has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by scoring 324 out of 400 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Her results include 75 in English, 85 in Biology, 72 in Chemistry, and an impressive 92 in Physics.

Amaka’s journey to this achievement was anything but easy. During her registration at a CBT center, she faced public ridicule after revealing her age. “The moment she said she was 14, the entire crowd exclaimed loudly. She felt embarrassed but stood her ground,” her mother recounted.

Due to her age, Amaka was issued a special waiver form meant for underage candidates. The form came with strict conditions: only candidates deemed “exceptionally gifted” could take the exam, and they were required to score at least 320—80% of the total—to avoid being barred from future attempts for 16 years.

Concerned about the pressure, her mother suggested waiting another year. But Amaka remained undeterred. “Let’s fill in and sign the form,” she told her mom. “Don’t worry, Mummy.”

With full determination, Amaka began studying rigorously, preparing as though everything depended on it. Her dedication paid off. Not only did she meet the high benchmark, she exceeded it—proving herself to be exactly what the waiver required: exceptionally brilliant.

Now 15, Amaka aspires to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), as she continues to pursue her dreams with the same resilience that brought her this far.
