FG to Launch NYSC-Equivalent Program for NCE Graduates

The Ministry of Youth Development has unveiled his plans to launch a national service program similar to the NYSC for Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) graduates, allowing them to serve within their states and gain valuable experience.

The Ministry of Youth Development has announced plans to introduce a program similar to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) graduates, aiming to provide them with national service opportunities equivalent to those available to university graduates.

Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Olawande Wisdom, revealed this initiative during the opening of the BEMORE OYO 2024 Summer Bootcamp in Ibadan, emphasizing the ministry’s collaboration with the Ministry of Education to implement broader youth training reforms.

The proposed program will allow NCE graduates to complete their service within their states, offering valuable experiences without requiring relocation. Wisdom highlighted the importance of reviving citizenship training programs, such as those offered by the Boys’ Brigade and Girl Guides, to prevent social vices and instill discipline among young Nigerians.

During the event, Wisdom also praised Dr. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, founder of the BEMORE Empowered Girls Foundation, for her efforts in advancing STEM education for girls. Dr. Anyanwu-Akeredolu emphasized that BEMORE operates independently of government funding and focuses on developing future female leaders in STEM.

Additionally, Mr. Abdulrahman Yinusa, CEO of Odu’a Investments, encouraged participants to fully engage with the program’s offerings, commending the organizers for their dedication to empowering young women through technology education.
