NANS order 3-day Mourning as 5 students die in a Motor Accident

National Association of Nigerian Students NANS has declared a 3 day mourning over the death of students union leaders.

This was made known in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer NANS Zone A on Thursday. The statement partly reads:

“Man cannot question the act of God Almighty, October 28 remain a day to remember, as such, NANS zone A under the leadership of Comrade Adamu Kichinga declare a three-day mourning”

The students union leaders who were 5 in number passed away in a ghastly motor accident around Bichi local government area on their way to Katsina to attend a Zonal students meeting.

The students were from the Kano axis of NANS, four from the Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education Kumbotso, and one from Federal College of Education, Kano. The students are namely: Abubakar Sulaiman, Tahir A. Dalhatu, Maryam Abdullahi, A’isha Wadaa Abdussalam and Usman Abubakar Abubakar.

Meanwhile, the 13 other students who were injured were hospitalized.

The governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje has however commiserated with the families of the five students who had died in the accident. This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar on Thursday, 28th October. Ganduje expressed shock over the death of the students and described the incident as tormenting. The statement indicated the name of the deceased students and their schools.

Governor Ganduje also added that the incident was a tragic one while commending the deceased students for their efforts.

“It is a tragedy for the state and the nation in general.

“They were young dedicated and responsible youth who chose to pursue education in order to move the society forward.

“They left us when we needed them. But our Creator, their Creator, Almighty Allah needed them the most.

He as well prayed for the deceased student, saying:

“May He forgive all their shortcomings and reward their good deeds.

“On behalf of the Kano state government and the entire people of the state, I am condoling members of their families, their friends, Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, Federal College of Education, Kano, students leaders and all other students over this tragedy.”
