Firm to unveil online platforms for pupils

Skool Media Nigeria Limited has concluded plans to unveil online platforms for Nigerian pupils to enable them to learn from home during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

According to a statement signed by the firm’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Sola Oluwadare, the initiative was part of the firm’s corporate social responsibility to assist pupils whose academics has been affected as a result of the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

He said, “Skool Media will be using its network of human resources to engage pupils through edufirst.ng platform, edufirsttv channel and on youtube. The platforms can be accessed freely in order to ensure maximum participation and engagement.

“A simple implementation plan to guide the smooth execution of this remote learning programme has been put in place. For the purpose of this, we shall focus on Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Computer/ICT, Government, Basic Tech and Basic Sciences. This will be done for both junior and senior secondary school categories.”

He said the firm will leverage the support of volunteers which include selected staff of Skool Media who have shown interest, secondary school teachers and other private sector professionals to teach specific subjects.

“We have plans to upload at least two subjects per day, and each video clip is expected to take between five and 10 minutes with a very clear and simple explanation of the lesson for easy understanding. A work-plan will be created and shared with parents for students to follow order to aid effective self-study.

 “Subject teachers will, through the channels teach their subjects, while the pupils will be given assignment to submit at a certain time of the day,” Oluwadare added
