No Clear Reason for the Punishment
While the exact reason these students were denied entry into the lecture hall remains unclear, reports suggest they are 100-level students — new to the university environment.
Overzealous or Just Inexperienced?
Reactions online have been mixed. Some social media users argue that the students are simply overenthusiastic and still trying to adjust to the university system. Others believe they are struggling to shed the mindset and behavior expected in secondary school.
Social Media Reactions:
- Aaron Emmanuel: “Omo, this isn’t boarding school anymore. Wait till they reach final year and see the vibe.”
- Ít’z Kãyêt: “In final year, I bet they’ll be the ones avoiding this same lecturer.”
- Samuel Oke: “They still think they’re in secondary school, clearly.”
- Nathaniel John: “By 200 level, lecturers will be the ones begging them to attend class 😂.”
- De Greatkeyz: “You won’t beg now? So you want to start misbehaving already when you’ve barely begun?”
- Oluwadabira Opeyemi: “Their ‘good secondary school’ behavior is still in their blood. If they were stylites, it’d be a different story.”
- Olu Wa Segun: “All this nonsense stops by 200 level. Even the lecturers will be scrambling.”
- Okunlola Oladipupo Ibrahim:
“They probably know what that lecturer is capable of. Universities differ. Some lecturers are strict — even as a final-year student, if your class starts at 8 AM and you arrive at 7:59, they lock the door. Attendance matters, and without it, you might not fail outright, but you won’t get a good grade either. Complain if you like — the school won’t help. You could even be penalized further. It’s not just about being a fresher.”
