FUO Shines at Osun 2025 TechNovation Challenge, Emerges Overall Winner

Fountain University, Osogbo has made a remarkable debut at the Osun 2025 TechNovation Challenge, organized by the Osun State Government through the Ministry of Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy and the Ministry of Education.

The university’s student teams, Team Ecobloom and Team PQ-AI, showcased exceptional talent and innovation, with Team PQ-AI emerging as the overall winner among 10 competing teams.

The Osun 2025 TechNovation Challenge, held at the Osun State Government Secretariat today, brought together talented students from various institutions in the state to showcase their innovative projects and compete for a spot at the national competition. Fountain University’s participation in the challenge marked a significant milestone, as it was the university’s first time entering the competition.

Team Ecobloom, comprising Fathia Shoda, Lawal Fathiah, Alalade Rofiat, and Sonaike Sumayah, developed a project that converts waste materials into organic fertilizer, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation. Their project earned them a fourth-place finish.

Team PQ-AI, consisting of Muadh Monsur, Bello Fawaz, and Abiola Awwal impressed the judges with their artificial intelligence-powered solution designed to help students in tertiary institutions solve past questions in preparation for examinations. Their innovative approach and exceptional presentation skills earned them the top spot, making them the overall winner of the competition.

The Director of the Centre for Research, Innovation and Technology, Rasheed Adebiyi, PhD, arpa, led the Fountain University team to the competition. In his remarks, he said, “We are thrilled to see our students excel in this prestigious competition despite being our debut. We are proud to be part of this initiative and look forward to representing the state at the national competition.”

Reacting to the news, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim said, “This achievement is a proof of the quality of education and innovative spirit that Fountain University embodies. We are glad and remain committed to providing our students with the necessary tools and support to excel in their chosen fields and make a positive impact in their communities.”

Fountain University, along with five other teams from other universities, will represent Osun State at the National Competition, scheduled to take place next month. The university community is ecstatic about this achievement and is eager to support their teams as they compete at the national level.
