Two scholars from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Olayide Lawal and Dr. Temitope Adefarati, have been recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier, marking a significant achievement for the university’s global reputation in research and academic excellence.


Two distinguished scholars from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Olayide Lawal and Dr. Temitope Adefarati, have been recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier. The announcement has sparked a wave of celebration within the university, affirming FUOYE’s growing status as a global academic leader.
Professor Lawal, an expert in Industrial and Macromolecular Chemistry and the Director of Research and Development at FUOYE, expressed his gratitude, saying, “To God alone be the glory. This achievement is a testament to the enabling environment created by our Vice-Chancellor for excellence to thrive.” He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of his colleagues and students, highlighting the collective work that contributed to this recognition. Prof. Lawal, a fellow of both the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Germany and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, has been on this prestigious list for several years.
Dr. Temitope Adefarati, a lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering, specializes in renewable energy, power systems, and smart grid technologies. He has contributed extensively to international research through numerous publications and global conference presentations. Responding to the honor, Dr. Adefarati stated, “I am incredibly proud and humbled to be regarded as one of the best scientists in the world. This recognition reflects the efforts of my mentors, colleagues, and students, as well as my own commitment to research.”
Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, praised both scholars for their outstanding achievements, noting that their recognition is a sign of the university’s rising reputation. “I am truly excited about this development.
