Governor Alex Otti has granted automatic employment to nine outstanding NYSC awardees from Abia State in recognition of their exemplary service.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has granted automatic employment to nine former National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from Abia State who received the prestigious Presidential Honour Awards for their outstanding service across the country.
The announcement was made during a reception held on Tuesday at the Government House in Umuahia, where Governor Otti hosted the award recipients alongside the NYSC Abia State Coordinator, Gladys Adama.
Governor Lifts Hiring Ban to Reward Excellence
Governor Otti emphasized that the appointments are not merely a reward but a motivation for other young Nigerians to strive for excellence in their fields.
“On behalf of the state government, you are each going home with a token of appreciation. More importantly, I am temporarily lifting the employment embargo to offer you jobs in the Abia State Civil Service — unless any of you chooses otherwise,” the governor said.
He instructed the Head of Service to process and issue appointment letters to the honorees without delay, noting that their exceptional performance during national service has already proven their merit.
The beneficiaries include:
- Nwogu Chinonso
- Anyanwu Promise
- Ezieme Uba
- Emmanuel Ezinne
- Abia Grace
- Nwafike Chiemela
- Ugwa Mark
- Eke Miracle
- James Chukwuebuka
Awardees Express Gratitude
Speaking on behalf of the group, Nwogu Chinonso from Obingwa Local Government Area, who served in Zamfara State, thanked the governor for the life-changing gesture.
“Governor Otti is a true leader — the Joshua of our time. We pledge to serve Abia State with dedication and loyalty,” he said.
Governor Otti further encouraged the new appointees to remain role models in their chosen professions, affirming the state’s continued support for hard work, discipline, and integrity.
