Peter Obi Donates N10 Million to Nursing School in Anambra

Peter Obi, former presidential candidate donates N10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences in Adazi Nnukwu, Anambra.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, donated N10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences in Adazi Nnukwu, located in Anambra’s Anaocha Local Government Area.

Mr. Obi presented the cheque to Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, which owns the institution.

Emphasizing the vital role of nurses in the health sector, Mr. Obi stated, “Nurses are crucial to the nation’s health sector given the enormity and importance of their work. They deserve all the attention they can get.”

He highlighted the need for budgetary support for such institutions due to their significant contribution to training healthcare workers, adding, “We cannot talk about healthcare, which is very important to national development, without talking about healthcare workers. Training these people is helping to protect our future.”

Mr. Obi also assured the institution of his continued support, noting the importance of training nurses for the future.

In response, Bishop Ezeokafor expressed gratitude for Mr. Obi’s generosity, acknowledging his longstanding support for the institution both before and during his tenure as governor, as well as in his current capacity as a private citizen. He assured that the funds would be used effectively for the benefit of humanity and expressed hope for continued support for the school.
