Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago awarded scholarships to 100 Agwara students for medical studies, announced plans to upgrade healthcare facilities, and pledged projects to yboost education, trade, and infrastructure during his visit.


Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has awarded scholarships to 100 students from Agwara Local Government Area to pursue medical-related courses within and outside Nigeria.
The governor announced the initiative during his statewide projects monitoring tour in Agwara, emphasizing that the scholarship aims to produce skilled health professionals to address the healthcare needs of the community. He also revealed plans to upgrade the Level 2 Primary Healthcare Center in Agwara to a general hospital to enhance healthcare delivery.
Governor Bago encouraged parents to take advantage of the state’s free education program, stressing the importance of education as a tool for empowerment.
In addition to the scholarship program, the governor pledged to construct a market in Agwara to boost trade and leverage the area’s agricultural potential. He also inspected the proposed site for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Secretariat and promised to support the project by tarring the access road and promoting environmental sustainability through tree planting under the state’s Green Initiative.
During his visit, the governor paid homage to the Sarkin Agwara, Alh. Hassan Zakari Mohammed, seeking royal blessings and expressing gratitude for the warm reception.
