Governor Bago urged NYSC members to embrace hard work, discipline, and digital literacy for personal growth and national development, while reaffirming the government’s support for their welfare and skill acquisition during their service year.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to embrace hard work, discipline, and a strong sense of purpose during their service year.
The governor, represented by Dr. Garab Nuhu Ngaski, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, delivered the message at the official swearing-in ceremony for approximately 2,100 Batch ‘A’ Stream II corps members. The event was held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Paikoro Local Government Area.
Governor Bago emphasized that determination, perseverance, and a willingness to face challenges are essential to personal and professional success. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for the NYSC scheme to thrive.
He also highlighted the Federal Government’s recent launch of the “Digital Literacy for All” campaign in Minna, encouraging corps members to take advantage of the initiative to improve their ICT skills. “Technology is at the heart of global development. Equip yourselves with digital knowledge and leadership principles—it will shape your future,” he advised.
In her welcome address, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Martina Shuaibu-Ibrahim, assured the new corps members that their welfare, health, and safety remain top priorities. She urged them to participate actively in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which aims to prepare them for self-reliance.
She further expressed sympathy, on behalf of the NYSC management, to those affected by the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area.
The oath of allegiance was administered by Justice Halima Abdulmalik, the Chief Judge of Niger State, represented at the ceremony by Justice Mariya Ismail.
