Governor Yusuf Deploys 17,600 Security Officers to Safeguard Schools in Kano

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the recruitment and deployment of 17,600 trained security personnel to public schools across the state’s 44 local government areas to enhance safety and combat growing insecurity in educational institutions.

allscho Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has authorized the recruitment and deployment of 17,600 security personnel to bolster safety in public schools throughout the state.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Monday. The initiative will distribute 400 security guards to each of Kano’s 44 local government areas.

This move comes amid rising concerns over insecurity in and around educational institutions, which the government says poses a serious threat to learning environments.

“We are committed to safeguarding the lives of our children and their teachers,” said Governor Yusuf during an official engagement in Kano. “Fear and insecurity must not be barriers to education.”

The new security personnel will undergo training before deployment. Their roles will include monitoring access points, identifying suspicious behavior, and coordinating with established security agencies when necessary.
