Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have kidnapped some passengers including students of the Abia State University Uturu ( ABSU).

According to Punch, the gunmen attacked a shuttle bus conveying the passengers along Okigwe-Uturu Road on Tuesday and killed the driver.

This comes two days after seven students of Abia State University were kidnapped along the same route.

The seven students were kidnapped on their way back to school around 6:pm on Sunday, May 15, along Okigwe-Uturu in a Siena vehicle.

One of the identified victims of the Sunday incident has been identified as Emmanuel Nzubechukwu Ubani, a 200 level Business Administration student who hails from Umuakpor Ovungwo in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Abia State.

Students are getting kidnapped everyday. The VC is doing nothing. Neither is the security, The school claims it’s not happening in the school which is true.

It’s happening along the way. But still, this involves the students’ lives. Students who are in school can’t go back. Those who are to return to school can’t move due to the rampant Kidnappings,” she said.

Another student, Daniel Obioma also cried out.

Last week some students were kidnapped along side with a lecturer and ransom was paid. Now another kidnapping case occurred two days ago seven 7 students were kidnapped along the same spot. Pls save our lives we went to study not to die. Abia Government we call on you for speed Action.#saveAbia students. #Bring back our students” he wrote
