This is Lydia Okojie, the former Miss ECOWAS Nigeria who overcame numerous challenges to achieve success in the world of modeling, while also making a positive impact in her community.

Lydia Okojie is a young woman with an inspiring story of resilience and determination. Despite growing up with limited resources, Lydia has managed to become a successful entrepreneur and beauty queen, all while giving back to her community.
In an interview with Showtime Celebrity and a viral #Kukumachallenge video, Lydia shared her story of growing up in Benin city as the daughter of a mechanic father and a petty trader mother.
Despite facing financial struggles and being teased by her peers for hawking ‘zobo’ drinks in school, Lydia remained focused and determined to succeed.
Lydia’s hard work paid off when she won the 2016 Miss VTE (Vocational and Technical Education) and went on to win the Miss Crystal Edo top model and Edo State Next Top Model in 2017. In 2021, she was crowned the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) Miss ECOWAS, a platform she has used to advocate for street child education.
As Lydia puts it, “All my life I have always wanted to inspire people and I am glad to be doing that with my story.”
Lydia’s journey has taught her valuable lessons about resilience and perseverance. She advises every girl child to “give yourself to learning, believe you can, and trust God for the process. Do not give up for any reason, there’s always a light waiting at the end of the tunnel.”
In addition to her success in the world of modeling, Lydia has also made a positive impact in her community. She has assisted secondary school students in different states to purchase JAMB forms and has rendered financial support to market women and petty traders in Lagos and Benin. She is a street child education advocate and has donated stationeries to various schools in Lagos.
Lydia’s story is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and faith. As she says, “To be my best me and stay strong no matter how difficult it gets because hard times don’t last forever.” Let Lydia’s story inspire you to pursue your dreams and never give up on yourself.
As Lydia herself puts it, “Life is a journey, each step takes you closer to your success. If you miss a step by cutting corners, it will take God’s grace to find yourself again.” So keep pushing forward, and don’t forget to believe in yourself!
