Bishop David Oyedepo, Chancellor of Covenant University, shared at the 19th Convocation that he has never accepted a salary from the institution, stating that the success of the students is his true reward and urging them to focus on making positive contributions to society.


Bishop David Oyedepo, Chancellor of Covenant University, revealed that he has never accepted a salary from the institution since its founding in 2001, emphasizing that the success of the students has been his true reward.
Speaking at the university’s 19th Convocation ceremony, where 1,607 graduates were celebrated—including 339 with first-class honors—Oyedepo highlighted the accomplishments of alumni in various fields, such as aviation, fashion, banking, and technology, as his greatest satisfaction.
He stated, “I have not earned any wages from Covenant University since inception. Your testimonies of success are my earnings and wages.”
Oyedepo encouraged students to focus on contributing positively to society, stressing that meaningful contributions are key to success and fulfillment. He added, “You are created to be a contributor. Be part of the solution, not the problem.”
He also reiterated Covenant University’s mission to offer high-quality education that empowers students to lead impactful and purposeful lives.
