Ibadan Polytechnic suspends activities over insecurity

The management of the Polytechnic, Ibadan on Sunday announced that in view of the growing insecurity within the institution, all activities have been suspended in the meantime.

But, the management clarified that the decision would not affect the ongoing second-semester examination

According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the institution, Mr Adewole Soladoye, the current security situation would be reviewed following which appropriate decisions would be taken

The statement signed by the institution’s Registrar, Mrs Modupe Fawale, reads: “The effort is to monitor the security temperature within the institution and its environment”, adding that academic activities, including conferences, seminars and workshops in the institution had, tentatively, been suspended.

“The authorities of The Polytechnic, Ibadan have suspended all public activities, including conferences, seminars and workshops in the institution and its environment until further notice apart from the ongoing second-semester examinations.”

The statement quoted Fawale as saying that the decision was part of the efforts to monitor the security temperature within the Institution and its environment.

It stated further that the decision was aimed at curtailing breaches and in observance of the COVID-19 precautions.

“By this, all deans of faculties, directors, heads of departments, religious bodies, students’ union, students’ representative council, all staff and members of the public are to kindly abide by this directive which takes effect from Sunday, 27th of June, 2021.”
