The UTME and Direct requirement below was lifted from JAMB Official Brochure. It is the Accurate and Official version for the above course.
In JAMB, what is the meaning of Special Consideration (Waiver)??
It means, additional requirement for a particular course in a particular school. If your school have a special consideration for either O’level Requirement, UTME Subject Combination or Direct Entry Requirement, then please take note of it.
Note sometimes in special consideration column, the school requirement might be slight different from the general requirement. We advice you know your desired school’s special consideration for your course. ITS NECESSARY else you might be denied admission.
Below is the UTME/JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION for LAW in faculty of Law;
English Language(*), and any three Arts or Social Science subjects.
VIEW SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS (WAIVER)
(i) BOWEN, ILORIN, UNN, BENIN, AAU and OAU require Literature in English plus any two (2) subjects.
(ii) CUAB require Literature in English and any other Arts or Social Science subjects.
(iii) EBSU requires Literature in English and either Government, History, CRS or Economics.
(iv) IBADAN accepts Science subjects.
(v) LAGOS requires English Language and any three Arts or Social Sciences subjects. Lagos does not accept Music, Fine Arts, and Principles of Accounting. Lagos accepts either Economics or Commerce but not both.
(vi) OOU does not insist on Literature in English.
(vii) PHC requires Literature in English and any two (2) subjects from Economics, Government, History, Geography, Commerce, CRK/IRK
(viii) RSU requires English Language, Literature in English CRK, History/Government.
(ix) DELSU accepts Literature in English and any other two (2) subjects in Art/Social Science.
(x) AAUA accepts Literature in English and any two (2) subjects in Art/Social Science.
(xi) MAIDUGURI requires any three (3) from Government, Economics, Geography or Arts subjects.
(xii) UMYUK requires Literature in English and any other two (2) Arts and Social Science subject.
(xiii) ABUAD requires Literature in English and any two Arts or Social Science subjects.
(xiv) CALABAR requires Literature in English and Christian Religious Knowledge, Govt./History or Economic or any other Arts or Social Science Subjects.
(xv) ABU requires Use of English, Literature in English and any other two Arts or Social Science subjects.
O’LEVEL REQUIREMENT FOR LAW
Below is the UTME Requirement for LAW in faculty of Law;
Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Literature-in-English and Mathematics.
VIEW SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS (WAIVER)
(i) AAU and NAU require ‘O’ Level credit passing one (1) science subject and one (1) commercial subject and at least ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.
(ii) ABUAD accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects at one sitting.
(iii) BOWEN requires five (5)’O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and three (3) other Arts subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
(iv) BSU accepts any other three (3) Arts/Social Science subjects
(v) CUAB requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credits passes in English Language, Literature in English, Government and Economics at not more than two (2) sittings. Candidates with ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics may be eligible for admission.
(vi) EBSU requires any other two (2) Arts or Social Science Subjects.
(vii) ESUTECH requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics or Science subject.
(viii) IBADAN requires five (5)’O’ Level credit passes at one sitting or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings to include English Language, Literature in English, any other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Sciences.
(ix) ILORIN requires Literature in English plus any two (2) subjects.
(x) JOS and OOU; ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics is not compulsory.
(xi) PAAU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or equivalents in English Language, Literature in English and any other three (3) Sciences, Social Sciences or Arts subjects.
(xii) LAGOS requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any two Arts or Social Sciences subjects.
(xiii) NDU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any other two (2) subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
(xiv) OAU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language and Literature in English.
(xv) OOU requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Literature in English and at least ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.
(xvi) PHC requires Five (5) O Level Credits in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and two (2) other credits from Economics, Government, History, Geography, Commerce, CRK/IRK.
(xvii) UMYUK requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or equivalents in English Language, Literature in English and any other three (3) Social Science or Arts subjects with ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings
(xviii) UNN does not require Mathematics and does not accept Fine Art or Local languages.
(xix) UYO, MADONNA, BIU, and BENIN accept ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.
(xx) EUI requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent to include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics.
(xxi) DELSU requires at least five (5) credit passes which must include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings and two (2) other subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.
(xxii) AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any other two subjects from, CRK /IRS, Igbo Language/Yoruba Language/Hausa Language, History, Economics, Geography, Commerce, Accounts/Bookkeeping and Government.
(xxiii) RSU requires Five (5) WASC/SSCE/GCE/NECO O/L in at least credit passes from English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any two (2) Arts/Social Science subjects.
(xxiv) CALABAR accepts Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics.
(xxv) ABU requires Five ‘O’ Level Credit passes which must include English Language, Literature in English and any other three Arts or Social Science Subjects.
DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR LAW
Below is the DIRECT ENTRY (DE) Requirement for LAW in faculty of Law
Two ‘A’ level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects
NCE/ND/First Degree (Second Class Lower).
VIEW SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS (WAIVER)
(i) AAU does not accept any Diploma and NCE but accepts only first degree second class lower plus the UTME requirements. AAUA requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Literature in English and Mathematics.
(ii) ABU accepts Two ‘A’ Level/IJMB Passes in English Literature and other Arts or Social Science subjects. ABU Diploma in Law with at least MERIT Grade. ABU Diploma in Shari’ah and Civil Law with at least Merit Grade.
(iii) ABUAD accepts excellent passes in JUPEB subjects.
(iv) BENIN requires UTME requirements plus two (2) ‘A’ Level passes; HND Lower credit and NCE credit passes in two (2) teaching subjects; Degree with at least second class lower division.
(v) BIU requires in addition to the UTME requirements a minimum of two (2) relevant passes at ‘A’ Level or NCE merits in three (3) subjects.
(vi) BOWEN accepts a) three (3) ‘A’ Level passes together with ‘O’ Level credit passes at not less than five (5) other subjects including English Language and Literature in English or equivalents, b) a University degree of not less than a second class lower division plus ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language and Literature in English, c) two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or equivalents plus three (3) ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language and Literature in English.
(vii) CALABAR accepts; a) Two (2) A Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects. b) NCE/ND/First Degree (Second Class Lower).
(viii) COOU accepts GCE, ‘A’ Level or HSC passes in two (2) subjects plus ‘O’ Level credit passes in three (3) subjects including English Language and Mathematics, Literature in English plus UTME requirements, first degree at least second class lower. Does not require Literature in English for degree holders.
(ix) ILORIN does not require Literature in English for degree holders.
(x) CUAB accepts a) degree b) Mature students with experience in related programmes who possess basic requirements in (a) shall be considered for admission.
(xi) EBSU accepts a) HND and ND with a minimum of upper credit from relevant programmes. b) NCE, ND or degree in Arts or Social Science subjects in addition to the UTME requirements.
(xii) IBADAN accepts two (2) passes at ‘A’ Level plus ‘O’ Level credit passes in five (5) or six (6) other subjects including English Language and Literature in English. Accepts good first degree with ‘O’ Level credit pass in English Language.
(xiii) JOS accepts any class of first degree but does not accept NCE, ND and HND.
(xiv) LAGOS acceptsVery good passes in JUPEB/A’ Level Subjects: Literature-in-English and any two Arts or Social Sciences. First Degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper. “Lagos does not accept JUPEB / A’ level passes in Fine Arts, Accounting or Commerce”.
(xv) LASU requires a) two (2) ‘A’ Level passes with ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language and Literature in English. b) first degree minimum of third class plus ‘O’ Level credit passes in five (5) subjects to include English Language and Literature in English.
(xvi) MAIDUGURI requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes from Government, Literature in English and Religious Studies.
(xvii) NDU accepts a) two (2) passes at ‘A’ Level in relevant subjects or its equivalents. b) ‘O’ Level credit passes or equivalents in five (5) subjects to include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics plus second class honours degree of this University or any other University recognized by Senate.
(xviii) OAU accepts first degree with a minimum of 2nd Class Honours plus the UTME requirements.
(xix) OOU accepts a degree in Arts or Social Sciences not lower than a second class lower plus the basic UTME requirements.
(xx) PHC accepts Diploma in Law Certificate from a recognised institution with a minimum of Upper Credit Level Pass, including UTME entry requirements. A first degree from a recognized University with a minimum of Second-Class Honours, including UTME entry requirements. Two (2) A/Level GCE or HSC or JUPEB or IJMB Passes in Arts or Social Science Subjects, including UTME entry requirements.
(xxi) RSU accepts Candidates with First Degree from a recognized University with a minimum of Second-Class Honours (Lower) Division. However, preference shall be given to candidates with Second Class Honours (Upper) Division or higher degrees. OND/ND (Upper Credit) relevant to the discipline may be considered. In addition, such candidates must also satisfy the U.M.E. entry requirements.
(xxii) UMYUK requires a minimum of 9 points in IJMB/HSC/GCE ‘A’ Level/NCE in any Arts or Social Science subject. Candidates with a minimum of lower credit pass in Diploma in Law from any recognized College of Legal Studies in Nigeria may also be admitted.
(xxiii) UNIOSUN accepts a) three (3) passes at ‘A’ Level together with ‘O’ Levelcredit passes at not less than five (5) other subjects including English Language and Literature in English or equivalents. b) a University degree of Osun State University, in a relevant programme – of not less than a second class lower division or any other recognised University in a relevant programme.
(xxiv) UNIZIK accepts a) HND with credits or distinction aggregates from
