O’LEVEL REQUIREMENT FOR ECONOMICS
For Faculty of Social and Management Sciences: Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) of Arts or Social Science subjects.
In Faculty of Arts/Humanities: Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and at least two (2) other relevant subject from Commerce, Government and Accounting.
In Faculty of Administration: Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) of Arts or Social Science subjects.
DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR ECONOMICS
For Faculty of Social and Management Sciences: Two (2)’A’ Level passes in Economics and any one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government.
In Faculty of Arts and Humanities: ND/NCE with upper/merit credit in the relevant programme in addition to five (5) credits passes at SSC at not more than two (2) sittings.

- (xxxvi) EUI requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
- (xxxvii) LCITY requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two (2) subjects.
- (xxxviii) FED-OYE EKITI requires five (5) credits at SSC (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Economics, plus one social Science subject(Government or/Geography) and any other subjects in Arts, Social sciences or science. FED-DUTSE requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two (2) subjects from Commerce, Geography, Government, Accounting or Civic Education. For Criminology and Security Studies, FED-DUTSE accepts; five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes SSC or its equivalent to include English Language, Mathematics with any two (2) Social Science subjects and any one Arts subject at not more than two (2) sittings.
- (xxxix) MOUNTAIN TOP requires credit passes in five (5) subjects at not more than two (2) sittings at ‘O’ Level to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
- (xl) FED-LOKOJA requires five (5) credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) relevant Arts and Social Science subject such as Accounting, Geography and Government/History.
- (xli) IAUED: Requirements for admission into the B.Sc and B.Sc (Ed) programmes of the Department of Economics of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education are in line with general NUC and JAMB regulations. Specifically, entry qualifications shall consist of five O’Level credit passes at one sitting or six O’Level credit passes at two sittings which includes English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two of Commerce, Government or History or Civic Education, Geography, Marketing, Data processing, Bookkeeping and Accounting, Business studies, Biology, Agricultural science or any other science subject.
- (xlii) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and Economics plus any other two Arts, Social Science and Management Subjects.
- (xliii) PHC requires Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Government/History/Geography and any other subject from Commerce, CRK/IRK, Literature in English, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science.
- (xliv) FED-KASHERE requires Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Government/History/Economics and two other Arts or Social Sciences subjects.
- (xlv) FED-KASHERE requires Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects preferable in Commence, Government and Accounting.
- (xlvi) LANDMARK requires Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, any other two subjects (science, arts or Commercial/social science).
- (xlvii) RSU requires five (5) WASC/SSCE/ GCE/NECO ‘O’ Level Credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two (2) other Social Science subjects.
- (xlviii) SOSU accepts Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two Social Science subjects at not more than two sittings.
DIRECT ENTRY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR ECONOMICS UNDER THE FACULTY OF SOCIAL/MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
- (i) OAU accepts a. ‘A’ Level passes in Economics and any two (2) from Government, Geography, Mathematics and Statistics b. ND/HND upper credit in Mathematics, Statistics.
- (ii) COOU and ESUTECH accept ND with GPA not below 2.50 (on 4.0 scale) NCE, HND and First Degree.
- (iii) UDU accepts ND credit in Business Studies and Statistics.
- (iv) IBADAN accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes but ‘O’ Level credit passes should include Mathematics and Economics.
- (v) EBSU and MAIDUGURI accept ND upper credit/HND upper credit in relevant programmes plus the UTME requirements
- (vi) OOU accepts ND upper credit in Marketing, General Administration e.t.c. of OOU at least Lower Credit.
- (vii) BAYERO does not accept Chemistry, Physics, and Agricultural Science and History.
- (viii) UNIZIK accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes from Economics, Mathematics and Political Science. Direct Entry Applicants must possess the UTME requirements.
- (ix) UNN requires the UTME requirements.
- (x) DELSU accepts a) At least two subjects at the Advanced Level which must include Economics. b) DELSU Diploma with merit passes in Accounting or Business Administration.
- (xi) EKSU accepts any of the following: (a) Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in Mathematics, Economics, English Language and two (2) other subjects one of which must be from the Social Sciences. (b) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Economics and any of Geography, Government and Mathematics.
- (xii) COVENANT accepts ND upper credit in Marketing, Business Administration or Banking and Finance.

- (lvi) BELLS accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in any two (2) of Economics, Mathematics and Geography/Government a. ND with minimum of upper credit in a related programme as the case may be from recognised institution.
- (lv) FED-DUTSINMA accepts Two ‘A’ level passes in Economics and Social Science, Arts or Science subject. Two ‘A’ level credit passes in Economics and Arts, Social Sciences or Mathematics.
- (lvi) PLASU accepts a) degree in any programme provided the candidate meets UTME requirements b) HND minimum of lower credit in relevant programme, with UTME requirements, c) ND lower credit in relevant programme, with UTME requirements. d) IJMB minimum of seven (7) points with passes in relevant subjects plus UTME requirements. e) PLASU does not accept university diplomas and other diplomas not accredited by the relevant accrediting bodies.
- (lvii) PAN-ATLANTIC accepts a) two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in any relevant subjects b) OND/ND lower credit in relevant programmes. c) NCE lower credit in relevant subjects. d) HND lower credit in relevant programmes. e) International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) in relevant subjects.
- (lviii) EUI accepts; a) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Economics and any one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government. b) NCE with passes at merit level in relevant subjects. c) ND/HND at credit level in related discipline d) Very good passes in JUPEB/IJMB subjects.
- (lix) FED-DUTSE requires; a) ND with minimum of Lower Credit in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration/Management. b) IJMB with minimum of 8 points in Social Sciences. c) NCE holders in Economics, Accounting and Business Education with minimum of 7 points. For Criminology and Security Studies, a) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Sociology, Economics and either Geography, Government or Civic Education. b) IJMB with 9 points in the above subjects. c) Diploma at Merit/Lower credit level in Crime Management, Law, Social Work, Social Policy and Administration and Community Development.
- (lx) MOUNTAIN TOP requires candidates to have passed at credit level five (5) subjects including English Language, Economics and Mathematics at SSC Level or its equivalent as well as Economics and at least one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Accounting, Business Management, History or Government at the G.C.E, ‘A’ Level. (Note: Commerce is not one of the subjects accepted in the Department of Economics).
- (lxi) IAUED: Admissions into the direct entry programme of Department of Economics requires credit pass in English and Mathematics at the O’Level, in addition to at least lower credit pass at National Diploma (ND) in Banking and Finance, Management, Accounting, Marketing, or a pass in Economics and any other related subject at the ‘A’Level; also a minimum of merit at NCE.
- (lxii) ABU accepts Two ‘A’ level /IJMB passes one of which must be Economics.

- (lxiv) FED-LAFIA accepts In addition to UTME requirements, DE candidate must have any of the following: Two A’ level credit passes in Economics and any one of Mathematics, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government. ND with not less than Lower credit in courses that are relevant to Economics/HND. Minimum of 9 points in IJMB in a courses related to Economics. A merit in NCE.
- (lxv) FED-KASHERE accepts Minimum of Lower Credit in ND or recognised Diploma or 9 Points in IJMB/NCE in related Social Science discipline.
- (lxvi) FED-KASHERE accepts Two ‘A’ Level passes in Economics and any of History/Government, Science, Social Science and Management subjects or Credit passes at NCE or ND or IJMB with at least 9 points in relevant subjects.
- (lxvii) KASU accepts Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Accounting, Economics, Business Administration and one other relevant subject. - (ii) FED-WUKARI accepts Five (5) credits at not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics and Economics and any two from the following subjects: Commerce/Financial Accounting, Business Methods/Insurance/ Book Keeping Government/History/Civic Education, Literature in English, Geography, and Statistics, obtained from Senior School Certificate (SSCE), National Examination Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) or its equivalent.
- (iii) FED-LOKOJA accepts Five SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Arts or Social Science subjects.

Candidates must also satisfy the O/L requirement for admission.
