For faculty of Arts and Humanities: Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language.
For the faculty of Administration: Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and Government plus a pass in Mathematics
For faculty of Social/Management Sciences: Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language and four (4) other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR MASS COMMUNICATION
For faculty of Arts and Humanities: Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in relevant subjects.
For faculty of Administration: Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Literature in English Economics or Government.
For faculty of Social/Management Sciences: Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects.

- (ii) UNN require Literature in English and any two (2) subjects out of which one must be in the Arts or Social Sciences.
O’LEVEL SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR MASS COMMUNICATION UNDER THE FACULTY OF ARTS/HUMANITIES
- (i) AJAYI requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and three (3) other subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.
- (ii) COVENANT requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English, one Science subject from Biology, Health/General Science, Agricultural Science, Physics and Chemistry, one from Social Sciences or Arts. Social Science subject such as Geography, Economics, Government, Commerce, Principle of Account, Book Keeping. Arts such as CRS, History. etc.
- (iii) JOS and UNN require ‘O’ Level credit pass in Literature in English.
- (iv) UNN requires credit level passes in Literature in English and an approved science subject plus ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.
DIRECT ENTRY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR MASS COMMUNICATION UNDER THE FACULTY OF ARTS/HUMANITIES
- (i) AJAYI requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or their equivalent in Literature in English and one other Arts or Social Science subject, plus three (3) ‘O’ Level credit passes.
- (ii) For UNN, candidates must possess HSC/GCE ‘A’ Level with passes in two (2) Arts subjects plus the UTME requirements.
- (iii) JOS accepts same in Mass Communication plus ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics.

- (i) CRUTECH accepts Literature in English, Government and CRS.
- (ii) AAUA requires three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects.
O’LEVEL SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR MASS COMMUNICATION UNDER THE FACULTY OF ADMINISTRATION
- (i) CRUTECH requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English, Government and any other Social Science or Arts subjects.
- (ii) ESUTECH requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Economics and accepts History or Government.
- (iii) WELLSPRING accepts a pass in Mathematics provided the candidate has a total of five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Government/History, and Literature in English.
- (iv) AAUA accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and two other subjects from Social Science/Arts.
DIRECT ENTRY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR MASS COMMUNICATION UNDER THE FACULTY OF ADMINISTRATION
- (i) AAUA accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or ND upper credit in Mass Communication from recognised institutions
- (ii) CRUTECH and ESUTECH accept ND upper credit or HND in Mass Communication from any recognized institution. Also requires Direct Entry applicants to possess the UTME requirements.
- (iii) WELLSPRING accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes (including NABTEB), as well as ND in Mass Communication from recognized institutions
UNDER FACULTY OF SOCIAL/MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
JAMB SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR MASS COMMUNICATION UNDER THE FACULTY OF SOCIAL/MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
- (i) AUE and BOWEN require Literature in English. LAGOS also accepts Mathematics as UTME subject.
- (ii) PAAU requires Literature in English and any other two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects
- (iii) ABU requires Use of English, Government/History and any other two of Geography, Economics, Literature in English and any other Language
- (iv) WESTERN-DEL requires Literature in English and any other two (2) Social Sciences or Arts Subjects.
- (v) JABU requires Literature in English.
- (vi) DELSU requires any three (3) from Arts or Social Science subjects.
- (vii) KWASU requires Mathematics, Literature in English and any other subject.
- (viii) BAYERO requires any three (3) subjects from Social Science subjects.
- (ix) MOUNTAIN TOP requires Literature in English and any other two subjects from social sciences, sciences and Arts.
- (x) PAN-ATLANTIC requires any relevant subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
- (xi) RSU accepts Economics, Government and any other subject.
- (xii) FED-OYE EKITI requires any three (3) subjects from Arts or Social Science.
- (xiii) BINGHAM require Literature in English. (xiv) AAUA requires three (3) Arts or Social Science subjects.
- (xv) ILORIN requires Literature in English, Either IRS/CRS, History, Yoruba and one subject from Social Science like Government, Economics or Geography.
- (xvi) LAGOS English Language, Literature-in-English and any two subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.
- (xvii) COAL-CITY requires Literature in English, Government or History, any arts or Social science Subjects.
- (xviii) KASU requires Any three subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
O’LEVEL SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR MASS COMMUNICATION UNDER THE FACULTY OF SOCIAL/MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
- (i) UNIZIK and BSU require five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language and ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics. UNIZIK requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Literature in English.
- (ii) KWASU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Government and Literature in English.
- (iii) OOU, LASU and REDEEMERS require five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and two (2) additional subjects in Arts and Social Sciences.
- (iv) IMSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics
- (v) BELLS requires ‘O’ Level credit passes including Mathematics and Geography.
- (vi) CUAB requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Literature in English, History/Government, Economics.
- (vii) EBSU requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Literature in English, English Language and Mathematics and ‘O’ Level pass in a Nigerian Language will be an advantage.
- (viii) GOUU, ABUAD and BIU require ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics.
- ix) ILORIN – Candidates must obtain at least credit pass in FIVE (5) subjects at S.S.C.E. O/Level or approved equivalent, including: English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and any other two (2) subjects; one from Arts and the other from Social Sciences.
- (x) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit pass in English Language and Mathematics, Government/History and any two of Arts or Social Science Subjects.
- (xi) BOWEN requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any other subjects in Arts and Social Sciences.
- (xii) WESTERN-DEL accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Literature in English, Government and any other Social Sciences subjects.
- (xiii) JABU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Literature in English and a minimum of ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics
- (xiv) AUE requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in at least six (6) subjects, including English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics obtained at not more than two (2) sittings.
- (xv) DELSU requires SSC or GCE ‘O’ Level credit passes in at least five (5) subjects, including English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics, two Social Science subjects. (xvi) ABUAD for Media and Communication Studies requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics.
- (xvii) LAGOS requires Five ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature-in-English and any two of Economics, History/Government, Geography, any Nigerian Language, CRS/IRS and Civic Education
- (xviii) PAAU requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or equivalent in English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any other two (2) Arts and or Social Science subjects.
- (xix) CUAB ‘O’ Level credit pass in Literature in English will be an added advantage.
- (xx) WESTERN-DEL accept five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Literature in English, Government and any other relevant subjects.
- (xxi) MOUNTAIN TOP – Candidates must have obtained five credit passes at one sitting or five credits passes at two sittings at the ‘O’ Level/Senior Secondary Certificate (WAEC; NECO etc.). Such credits must include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics and two other relevant subjects.
- (xxii) PLASU requires credit in Mathematics and Literature in English.
- (xxiii) PAN-ATLANTIC requires five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and Government.
- (xxiv) EUI requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics and any other three (3) Social Science subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
- (xxv) LCITY requires ‘O’ Level credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language and any other four (4) Social Science subjects.
- (xxvi) RSU requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two (2) subjects.
- (xxvii) FED-OYE EKITI requires five (5) SSC credit (or its equivalent) including English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics and any two (2) subjects
- (xxviii) BAYERO requires five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language and 4 other subjects in Social Sciences.
- (xxix) AAUA accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and two other subjects from Social Science/Arts.
- (xxx) KASU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and two other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
DIRECT ENTRY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR MASS COMMUNICATION UNDER THE FACULTY OF SOCIAL/MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
- (i) RHEMA and UNIZIK accept good NCE, ND/HND in relevant programmes/subjects.
- (ii) BSU accepts ND distinction or upper credit level in Mass Communication, ‘O’ Level pass in Mathematics plus the UTME requirements.
- (iii) IGBINEDION accepts ND credit in Mass Communication, Theatre Arts or any other related programme.
- (iv) CUAB accepts ND in Mass Communication.
- (v) BIU requires in addition to the ‘O’ Level requirements specified, a minimum of two (2) relevant subjects passed at ‘A’ Level or NCE three (3) merits or ND in relevant programme/subject not below credit level.
- (vi) BOWEN accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in any Arts and Social Science subjects.
- (vii) (viii) KASU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language and four (4) other subjects in Arts or Social Sciences.
- (ix) KWASU requires ‘A’ Level passes in Literature in English, Government and any other subject or ND at upper credit level or HND lower credit level.
- (x) WESTERN-DEL requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Arts, Social Science subjects. ND lower credit in Mass Communication.
- (xi) LASU accepts HND lower credit in Mass Communication, Marketing, Book Publishing, Printing Technology or related programme from a recognised Polytechnic in addition to the UTME requirements.
- (xii) AUE accepts a. five (5) passes at ‘A’ Level together with ‘O’ Level credit passes in not less than three (3) other subjects including English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics or its equivalent. b. two (2) passes at ‘O’ Level, ‘A’ Level plus credit passes in four (4) other subjects including English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics or its equivalent.
- (xiii) DELSU accepts a) Two A’ Level passes in Arts or Social Science. b) At least an upper credit at OND in Communication Studies and related fields. c) At least a Merit in Diploma in Mass Communication from Delta State University.
- (xiv) GOUU accepts B.Sc., BA or HND in any programme, ND upper credit in Mass Communication.
- (xv) RENAISSANCE accepts NCE, ND/HND or First Degree in relevant subjects plus UTME requirements.
- (xvi) CALEB accepts ND at credit level in Mass Communication or Social Sciences related studies plus the UTME subjects at one sitting.
- (xvii) CUAB accepts a. NCE, ND, HND and their approved equivalents with lower credit may be admitted to the appropriate level. b. IJMB at acceptable grades. c. In exceptional cases, ND lower credit from recognised institutions into 200 level in relevant degree programmes alongside the minimum requirements stipulated for entry into 100 level d. HND lower credit from recognised institutions may be admitted into 200 level in the relevant degree programmes plus the minimum requirements stipulated for entry into 100 level.
- (xviii) LAGOS accepts Very good passes in three JUPEB/A’ Level subjects: Literature-in-English and any two of Economics, Government, History and CRS/IRS.
- (xix) PAN-ATLANTIC accepts a. two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects. b. ND lower credit in relevant programmes. c. NCE lower credit in relevant subjects. d. HND lower credit in relevant programmes. e. International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) in relevant subjects.
- (xx) UNILORIN accepts ND upper credit in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations and Advertising.
- (xxi) MOUNTAIN TOP requires accepts TWO JUPEB passes or A Level in relevant subjects, National Diploma in Journalism, Mass Communication or Media Studies (with at least Lower Credit) from recognized universities, and NCE (English Language combination) with Upper Credit”.
- (xxii) PLASU accepts a. degree in any programme provided the candidate meets UTME requirements b. HND minimum of lower credit in relevant field, with ‘O’ Level requirements. c. ND minimum of Lower Credit in relevant field, with ‘O’ Level requirements. d. IJMB minimum of seven (7) points with passes in relevant subjects plus UTME requirements. e. does not accept university diplomas and other diplomas not accredited by the relevant accrediting bodies.
- (xxiii) EUI accepts a) two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in English and any other relevant subject. b) NCE with passes at merit level in relevant subject. c) ND/HND at credit level in related discipline. d) Very good passes in JUPEB/IJMB subjects.
- (xxiv) RSU in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements accepts: (a) HND (Lower Credit) relevant to the programme. (b) OND/ND (Upper Credit) relevant to the discipline. (c) Degree (Third Class) relevant to the programme. (d) At least two (2) ‘A’ level passes at GCE preferably in the Arts and Social Sciences.
- (xxv) FED-OYE EKITI accepts Professional Diploma in Mass communication of any University approved by the Senate of the University with not less than a GPA of 3.0. Candidates with G.C.E ‘A’ Level are not accepted for direct entry in Mass Communication.
- (xxvi) AAUA accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes or ND upper credit in Mass Communication from recognised institutions
- (xxvii) MOUNTAIN TOP requires candidates to have obtained five ‘O’ Level credit passes at one sitting or six ‘O’ Level credits passes at two sittings. Such credits must include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics. In addition, candidates must possess: A National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communication from a recognized institution of higher learning with a minimum of Lower Credit OR Two ‘A’ level passes in relevant subjects including English Literature. Or Foundation/JUPEB obtained from Mountain Top University or other recognized Universities
- (xxviii) BAYERO requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Social Science subjects. National Diploma in Mass Communication is acceptable. GCE ‘A’ Level is not acceptable.
- (xxix) BINGHAM accepts ND upper credit in Public Administration and other related programmes. It also requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include Government or History.
- (xxx) KASU accepts Two ‘A’ Level passes in Literature in English and one other Art or Social Science subjects. HND/ND Lower Credit and NCE Merit in Mass Communication and IJMB with 7 points and above in Social Science subjects.
- (xxxi) ILORIN accepts; a) Ordinary Diploma (at Upper Credit Level) in Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations and Advertising, in addition with satisfying the O/Level requirements. b) JUPEB result or its equivalents with not less than 10 points from a combination of: English Language, English Literature and either of Yoruba, IRK/CRK, Government, Geography or Economics, are acceptable for Direct Entry. c) Meanwhile, Candidates being admitted with JUPEB or its equivalents must also satisfy the O/Level requirements, especially obtaining at least a credit pass in English Language and Mathematics.
- (xxxii) ABU accepts Two ‘A’ level /IJMB passes which must include Government or History and any one from Economics, Sociology and any Nigerian or International Language. ABU Diploma in Mass Communication with minimum of Merit.
- (xxxiii) BENIN accepts: a) ND Mass Communication upper credit or its equivalent. b) ‘A’ Level or HSC with passes in Literature in English, History and CRS or any other Arts or Social Science subjects. c) NCE credit in Theatre Arts or relevant subject.
- (xxxiv) PAN-ATLANTIC accepts; a) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects. b) OND/ND with lower credit passes in relevant courses. c) NCE with lower credit passes in relevant courses. d) HND with lower credit passes in relevant courses. e) International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) in relevant subjects.
