JUTH Recognizes Outstanding Employees with Merit and Long Service Award

Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) honored outstanding employees with merit and long service awards at its 2024 End of Year Dinner to foster excellence, dedication, and productivity.

The Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) honored exceptional members of its workforce during its 2024 End of Year Dinner and Awards Night held on Saturday in Jos.

Dr. Pokop Buptwada, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of JUTH, explained that the awards were designed to reward excellence, dedication, and commitment to duty, thereby fostering a proactive and efficient workforce.

“It is crucial to acknowledge and celebrate staff members who have distinguished themselves in their roles. Recognizing hard work and diligence not only motivates those awarded but also inspires others to strive for excellence,” Dr. Buptwada stated.

The awards were presented in two categories: Merit Awards, which were performance-based, and Long Service Awards, given to staff who had served the institution for 32 years or more. A merit committee, chaired by Prof. Aboy Madaki, was responsible for the selection process.

Dr. Buptwada praised the hospital’s workforce and urged them to maintain their dedication to excellence.

In a goodwill message, Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cletus Shurkuk, lauded the initiative, describing it as a commendable effort to motivate staff toward improved service delivery. Similarly, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, applauded JUTH’s management for recognizing its employees, noting that such gestures promote staff morale and productivity.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that 11 staff members received awards in the merit category, while 25 others were recognized for their long service to the institution.
