Kogi State Polytechnic has withdrawn 273 students and expelled six others for examination malpractice following a review of the 2024/2025 semester results, with the Polytechnic leadership emphasizing continued reforms and academic integrity.


The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja has taken disciplinary action by withdrawing 273 students and expelling six others due to examination malpractice. These decisions were made during the board’s 120th meeting held on April 17, 2025, at the Polytechnic’s main campus.
According to Uredo Omale, Director of Public Relations and Protocol, the actions followed a detailed review of the First Semester results for the 2024/2025 academic session. Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, Chairman of the Board, commended the Result Verification Committee led by Deputy Rector Dr. Samuel Taiwo Olowo for their thorough work.
Despite providing a supportive learning environment, the Polytechnic expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of some students, which resulted in their withdrawal. The withdrawn students come from 20 departments spanning 42 programs, including Business Administration, Accountancy, Fine Arts, Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Computer Science.
Six students were expelled for examination misconduct, as confirmed by the Central Examination Misconduct Committee chaired by Dr. Grace Ehimony. The expelled include:
- Daniel Onuche Gabriel (2024/HND/BUS/026) – Business Administration
- Yaro Abdullahi Nma (2024/ND/ACCT/081) – Accountancy
- Jaja Julietu (2022/ND/MAS/098), Usman Abdulgeniyu (2022/ND/MAS/015), Gimba Aminat (2022/ND/MAS/026), Otitoju Taiwo Timilehin (2023/ND/MAS/161) – Mass Communication
These students were found guilty of impersonation or possessing unauthorized materials during exams, breaching the Polytechnic’s Students’ Information Handbook.
Professor Usman praised all committees involved for their diligence and urged continued cooperation to maintain academic standards. The Polytechnic leadership reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing reforms to improve educational quality.
All withdrawn and expelled students have been instructed to return Polytechnic property, including their identity cards, before leaving the institution.
